Synopsis:

Detective Driver is called to a hostage situation, where the perpetrator asked for him by name. It turns out that the hostage taker is a childhood friend who was the victim of an attack on a high school baseball team, and the only survivor. Now he says that a voice in his head forced him to do it, and he can no longer live with himself, blowing his brains out with a shotgun. Detectives Driver and MacDonald investigate the old case and discover two disturbing things. First, that the last person to see the files on the case, now missing, was disgraced former member of the police force Harvey Bullock, and second that Jervis Tetch, the Mad Hatter, was probably behind the attack ten years ago.
