Yoska Graesinka, who claims to be Dick Grayson's paternal grandfather, tells his
grandson that he knows why Dick associates with Bruce Wayne - to steal his money, a
concept Dick finds laughable. Meanwhile, Giacomo Inzerillos makes plans and Batman realises
that Gresinka isn't lying about his identity - someone is lying to him. When Dick takes
Graesinka to see his place in Bludhaven, the old man narrowly avoids being shot. Batman,
who is on the scene, discovers that the would-be assassin is Ubu, while Inzerillo's
associates are massacred. Graesinka tells Dick that it was a nice man called al Ghul that
told him about his grandfather, and the pieces fall into place - John Grayson is not
Yoska's long lost son, and Bruce Wayne really is all the family Dick has. The whole
situation was set up by al Ghul in revenge for the way in which he perceives Batman to
have driven a wedge between him and his daughter Talia. He aimed to cause doubts in the
relationship between Dick and Bruce, but the adoption goes ahead despite his interference.
